Hiring a wedding planner is one of the best things you can do at the beginning of planning to ensure a stress free process and a seamless wedding day. In the Details Weddings offers a variety of services to their clients because we understand that everyone has a different wedding budget and every client has different needs. With our array of different planning and coordination packages we can likely fit the needs of any bride and groom. This leaves many people asking – what is the right package for me? Do I need a planner or a coordinator? Continue reading to see a breakdown of the differences between a wedding planner and a wedding coordinator.
If you hire a wedding planner, they will begin their planning process with you the day that you book. You will begin budgeting and creating your perfect vendor team right away. They will be there with you to guide you throughout the entire process. If you hire a wedding coordinator, they will jump in about 1-2 months prior to your wedding day to help gather details, manage logistics and make sure everything goes off without a hitch day-of.
Your wedding planner will also schedule and attend all vendor meetings. Everything from consultations to tastings to final walkthroughs will be arranged and attended by your planner. The client is always encouraged to attend these meetings as well to be sure their opinion and vision is heard by their vendors. Your wedding coordinator will only meet with you, and sometimes your venue, before the day of your wedding to create your timeline. If you want your In the Details Wedding Coordinator to attend any additional vendor meetings you can always add planning hours to do so.
A wedding planner will help you create and manage your budget throughout the planning process. Starting with budget planning lays the foundation for your planning process. It helps your planner understand what your priorities are, how closely you want to stick to your budget and help set your expectation for planning. As you book vendors, they will track your expenses, payment schedule and help you manage any remaining dollars. Your wedding coordinator will not touch your budget but they are always happy to review contracts with vendors you have already booked so that they can have a solid understanding of what each vendor has offered you. This also helps them as they are creating the timeline.
A wedding planner will be there with you from day one communicating with all of your vendors. This saves you, as the bride, so much time. There are countless emails back and forth during the planning process but you will only need to be looped in when it is time to make final decisions. You will not have to navigate a sea of emails – your planner does that for you! Your wedding coordinator will help take the email load off of you in the last month of planning. They will share the timeline with your vendors and get any last minute questions answered for you. At In the Details, we always cc the bride on these emails since they are the ones vendors have been communicating with during the process. We like to give our DOC clients visibility in that last month but also take the load off by answering vendor questions for them. body 4: will create an extremely detailed timeline, runs your rehearsal, will be there to execute everything the day-of
Both your wedding planner and coordinator will create an extremely detailed timeline for the day of your wedding. It will include your getting ready schedule, photo schedule, vendor arrival and departure times and other miscellaneous details to note for the event. Each vendor will receive a copy of this timeline and will confirm details with your planner or coordinator. They will run your wedding rehearsal for you and will be there to execute all plans on the day-of. From setup and teardown, to managing family and bridal party, to answering vendor questions – they are there to take all of this off of your plate. Both a planner and a coordinator will allow the bride, groom and their families to fully enjoy the wedding day.
Our belief at In the Details is that wedding planners are a luxury but wedding coordinators are an absolute necessity. An average wedding these days ranges from $30,000-$60,000 and it would be a shame to put so much time, energy and money into something and then be stressed the entire day-of. A bride is not meant to manage all of this themselves. That is why our team is so passionate about creating seamless days for our clients. If your budget allows, investing in a wedding planner is absolutely worth every penny. Don’t take it from us, take it from our client google reviews linked here. We want our clients to be able to soak up every moment of their engagement – growing deeper in love with their future spouse. Letting our team handle the details frees up so much time for you to simply be in love and get so excited for the day you have always dreamed of!
