Here is a look at Roselle and Eric’s wedding, blending traditional Filipino customs with an industrial vibe and a pop of color. It’s a unique mix of old and new that promises a celebration like no other. I am so grateful I was able to be a part of such a special day for this wonderful couple!
Roselle, the bride, comes from a Filipino family and because of this there were many special traditions during their ceremony. For starters, Filipinos have sponsors for their wedding day who are similar to Godparents in the bride or groom’s life. The primary sponsors will act as witnesses to the signing of the marriage license. The secondary sponsors will help with the candle, veil and cord traditions during the ceremony. Candle sponsors light the wedding candles, veil sponsors lay a veil over the bride’s head and groom’s shoulder and the cord sponsors place a knotted cord over the couples heads. These sponsors were all included in the ceremony and made for a really long processional! We still got everyone lined up and started the ceremony on time which is something I am really proud of looking back.
Roselle + Eric’s wedding took place on a warm, sunny August day! The wedding was fully indoors and that far into the summer I know their guests (and our team) appreciated some good old fashioned air conditioning. The couple was able to get gorgeous portraits outdoors and capture the essence of summer in that way.
Another nod to the bride’s Filipino heritage was their dessert table. They had a typical wedding cutting cake but the rest of the dessert table was full of Filipino delicacies and candies! Considering the groom and his family were all born and raised in the United States, they had a lot of local guests who were excited to try something new. We love personal touches like these!
Kind Words from the Bride
“A lot of people have asked me if everything went smoothly on my wedding day, and my answer always has been: “as far as I know, yes!” If anything went wrong, I didn’t know because Emily took care of it. Leading up to the day, she helped me get my thoughts in line for my vision for the day by helping me with design questions and making the day’s timeline. On the day of, she (and her assistant) did an amazing job setting up our centerpieces, organizing everyone who had a role for the ceremony (which, as a Filipino wedding, there were A LOT of people with roles), keeping things running on time, keeping track of our stuff, and so many more! I honestly cannot imagine how our day would’ve gone without her (pretty rough probably). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”
